The Pot Luck Club, conveniently situated on the 6th floor in The Silo, The Old Biscuit Mill, Woodstock is a restaurant well worth visiting. Ranked number 4 of 800 restaurants in central Cape Town on Tripadvisor and being the sister restaurant of Luke Dale Roberts’ The Test Kitchen this restaurant will not disappoint.
After travelling up the 6 storey building in a glass elevator you step into inside to be welcomed by friendly and knowledgeable staff, a breathtaking view of Cape Town, exciting and innovative cuisine – which is beautifully presented all in relaxed and chic atmosphere with wood and leather touches throughout.
Jako took me to the Pot Luck Club over the weekend for a surprise date. All in time for sunset which was great as we had a window seat. For those unfamiliar with the restaurant, it’s unique menu focuses on the five taste sensations (sweet, salty, sour, bitter & umami). Each dish is served tapa style to encourage sharing. (Perfect for a date night).

The Millionaires chocolate hot pot was the perfect finish to our fine dining experience. The hot pot/bowl melts the chocolate and crème fraîche ice cream as you eat. The smooth and creamy texture of the chocolate and ice cream is in sharp contrast to the crunchy biscuits…. It was so good that my very first thought the morning after our visit to the Pot Luck Club was: “I wish I could have Millionaires chocolate hot pot right now” and let it be noted that I woke at 07:30 am.
I’ve read reviews where clients say they were neglected in terms of attention from their waiter, I however can not say the same. Throughout the course of the evening our glasses were constantly filled to a desirable level, we had mint water at all times, the menu was explained in detail and we were checked on after the arrival of each tapa.
